I'm Helen. I’ve been doing good things with words for over 15 years: copywriting, managing communications teams and running campaigns at high profile organisations including Rough Guides, Penguin, Plan International, Marie Stopes, Blood Cancer UK, Cancer Council and the Royal Free Hospital. I used to be a Communications Manager, so I 100% get how organisations work and what you need.


I usually work with charities and other public sector organisations, with a focus on health and international development. Some of the things I've written about include girls' rights, disaster response, family planning, cancer research, outdoor education for young people, diversity & inclusion, plumbing, childcare and electric radiators ... yes really.


If you work with me you'll get creativity, simplicity and integrity. I'm available for freelance work on a project-by-project or ongoing basis. I can work from home, park myself in your office or just pop in to see you from time to time. I'm based in Edinburgh and travel UK-wide for client meetings in normal times.
